Brunnsparken - Varberg, Sweden
Brunnsparken is the main square in the center of Varberg, a seaside town in Halland on Sweden's west coast, and this camera looks across its trees and paving to the shops and cafes around it, opposite Varberg Church.
Varberg grew up around Varberg Fortress, built between 1287 and 1300 when this coast belonged to Denmark. Halland passed to Sweden in 1645, and the fortress later served as a prison until 1931.
Today the town is known for its sandy beaches and surfing. Nearby, the old Grimeton radio station, which once sent messages across the Atlantic, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Did You Know? Varberg Fortress museum displays the Bocksten Man, found in a bog, whose outfit is the only complete set of clothes from the 1300s known to have been worn by one person.
