Trains - Woodlands, Singapore

Trains on Singapore's MRT glide along the elevated tracks at Woodlands, in the far north of the island, and this camera looks over the line with tall apartment blocks and green trees all around.

Woodlands station opened on the North South Line on February 10, 1996. On January 31, 2020, an underground station on the Thomson-East Coast Line opened beneath it, about 79 feet (24 m) deep.

Woodlands sits right on the border with Malaysia, across the Johor Strait from Johor Bahru. A new cross-border rail link from Woodlands North is due to open by the end of 2026, with trips of about five minutes.

Did You Know? The underground part of Woodlands station doubles as a civil defense shelter that can hold up to 9,000 people in an emergency.
