Scenic Views - New England, USA
This rotating live stream from Mills Wildlife Channel cycles through multiple camera positions across New England, covering locations from Mount Katahdin in northern Maine to Acadia National Park on the Maine coast, Boston, and Mystic in Connecticut. The feed shown here is the Old Stump camera in southern Maine, a ground-level wildlife station built around a natural tree stump and bird bath that attracts eastern grey squirrels, birds, and woodland creatures throughout the day.
The channel installs cameras at carefully chosen outdoor locations across all six New England states, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut, switching between feeds while overlaying live weather data and timelapse sequences.
Mount Katahdin, one of the camera locations in this rotation, stands at 1,606 metres as the highest peak in Maine and marks the northern terminus of the Appalachian Trail, the 3,500-kilometre long-distance hiking route running to Springer Mountain in Georgia. Acadia National Park, another featured location, covers 19,156 hectares on Mount Desert Island and receives over 4 million visitors per year, making it one of the ten most visited national parks in the United States. New England as a region covers 186,458 square kilometres across its six states and is characterised by temperate deciduous forest that produces the dramatic autumn foliage displays for which the region is internationally known.
Did You Know? Mount Katahdin, featured in this stream, marks the northern end of the Appalachian Trail. Thru-hikers who complete the full 3,500-kilometre route from Georgia take an average of five to seven months to reach this point.
