Seoul Station Plaza - Seoul, South Korea
This live camera looks over Seoul Station Plaza, one of the busiest transport hubs in Asia, with the modern Seoul Station building on the left and the beautiful red brick former Seoul Station building from 1925 standing in the centre of the frame. Over 100,000 passengers pass through Seoul Station daily, making this plaza one of the most constant streams of human activity of any camera on the site.
Seoul Station is the main terminus for KTX high speed rail services connecting the capital to Busan, Daegu, and cities across the peninsula, with trains reaching speeds of up to 305 kilometres per hour. The old station building, now a cultural centre called Culture Station Seoul 284, is one of the finest examples of colonial era architecture remaining in the city.
Did You Know? Seoul Station was originally built in 1925 during the Japanese colonial period and was modelled on Tokyo Station. After a new modern terminal opened alongside it in 2004, the old building was preserved rather than demolished and reopened as an arts and cultural venue, making it one of the rare cases of a historic station given a genuine second life.
