Zaragoza Border Crossing - Ciudad Juárez, Mexico

Under a big MEXICO sign, this camera looks over the toll booths and lanes of the Puente Internacional Zaragoza on the Mexican side of the border, where thousands of cars, buses and trucks cross every day between Ciudad Juárez and El Paso, Texas.

It's one of the main truck crossings between the two countries. Juárez is full of factories that build goods for the US market, from car parts to electronics, and much of what they make heads north over this bridge.

Traffic builds in the early morning and late afternoon, when commuters and freight are on the move. At night the whole scene glows with the lights of both cities, which together form one of the largest cross-border metro areas in the world.

Did You Know? The Río Bravo (Rio Grande) changed course so often here that the US and Mexico argued over land for nearly 100 years. The Chamizal treaty of 1963 finally settled it.
