Zaragoza Border Crossing - Ciudad Juárez, Mexico
This live feed looks out over the checkpoint lanes at the Puente Internacional Zaragoza on the Mexican side of the border, where vehicles queue to cross between Ciudad Juárez in Chihuahua and El Paso, Texas. The MEXICO sign above the toll booths and the city lights of both nations stretching into the distance make this one of the most visually striking border crossing cameras anywhere.
Ciudad Juárez and El Paso together form one of the largest binational metropolitan areas in the world, with millions of legal crossings made here every year by commuters, workers, families and freight. The crossing operates around the clock and traffic levels on this feed vary dramatically by time of day.
The camera is operated by the Fideicomiso de Puentes Fronterizos de Chihuahua, the body that manages international crossings across the state of Chihuahua. Early mornings and late afternoons are typically the busiest periods.
Did You Know? The Río Bravo that marks the border here has shifted course so many times over the centuries that the US and Mexico signed the Chamizal Treaty in 1963 to settle a 99-year-old dispute. A strip of land roughly one kilometre wide formally changed hands between the two nations as a result.
