Strait of Singapore Shipping - Singapore
This high altitude live camera captures a sweeping view across the Strait of Singapore, one of the busiest and most strategically important shipping lanes on earth. The feed looks out over Tanjong Pagar terminal and the Disney Cruise Terminal, with dozens of container ships, tankers, and cruise liners visible at any given moment on the water below.
The Port of Singapore is consistently ranked as one of the world's top two busiest ports by cargo tonnage, handling over 600 million tonnes of cargo annually and connecting more than 600 ports across 120 countries. Every ship passing through this strait is part of a supply chain that touches virtually every corner of the global economy.
The Strait itself is just 2.8 kilometres wide at its narrowest point, making it one of the most congested maritime chokepoints in the world, with an estimated 1,000 ships passing through every single day.
Did You Know? Singapore has no natural resources and no hinterland, yet it became one of the world's great trading nations entirely through its position at the tip of the Malay Peninsula. The port was the foundation on which modern Singapore was built, and it remains the economic engine of the entire city state today.
