Shinjuku Kabukicho - Tokyo, Japan (Cam 2)
This second camera looks the other way along Kabukicho Ichibangai in Shinjuku, Tokyo, where shoppers, office workers and tourists stream past restaurants, game centers and bars under walls of bright signs.
Above the district, a life-size Godzilla head has peered over the street from the terrace of the Toho Shinjuku Building since 2015. Nearby, the Tokyu Kabukicho Tower, opened in April 2023, rises 738 feet (225 m).
On the edge of the district lies Shinjuku Golden Gai, a maze of narrow alleys crammed with tiny bars, many with room for only a handful of drinkers. It's one of the last corners of old postwar Tokyo still standing.
Did You Know? Shinjuku Station, just a few minutes' walk from Kabukicho, is the busiest railway station in the world, used by millions of people every day.
