Boston Common - Boston, USA

This live cam looks out over the edge of Boston Common, right in the heart of the city, where leafy paths and busy sidewalks fill with Bostonians hurrying to work. It's the oldest public park in the United States, set up in 1634, and it has seen a lot in that time.


British troops camped here before the Revolution, and in 1775 they set out from this very ground for Lexington and Concord. It's also where the Freedom Trail begins, a walking route past many of the city's historic sites.


These days life on the Common is far more relaxed. The Frog Pond becomes an ice rink in winter and a spray pool for kids in summer, the Swan Boats have been taking visitors around the lagoon in the Public Garden next door since 1877, and the gold dome of the State House looks down over it all.


Did You Know? Cows grazed on Boston Common until 1830.
