Many have underdeveloped organs or injuries serious enough to require round-the-clock veterinary care.

They’re kept in soft hanging buckets - not for aesthetics, but because it replicates how baby sloths cling to their mothers in the wild.

It’s one of those details that makes this camera impossible to look away from.

Gorilla Forest Corridor

Grauer’s gorillas are the largest gorilla subspecies on Earth and are found nowhere outside the Democratic Republic of Congo. They’re also critically endangered.

This camera overlooks a forest corridor at GRACE, a conservation center where rescued gorillas move between shelter and forest habitat.

Activity isn’t constant - this is wildlife, not a zoo - but when a group moves through, it’s something else.

Kitten Rescue Sanctuary

As recently as the early 2000s, Los Angeles County was euthanising over 40,000 cats and dogs every year.

That number has dropped by over 90%, partly because of organisations like Kitten Rescue, which has rehomed more than 18,000 cats and kittens since 1997 - with no central shelter, run entirely by foster volunteers.

The camera sits inside a foster room where rescued kittens eat, play, and grow before hopefully being rehomed.

The residents change regularly as new litters arrive and others are adopted.
