Deshler Crossroads Rail Diamond - Ohio, USA

At Crossroads Park in the small village of Deshler, in northwest Ohio, this camera watches one of the busiest rail crossings in the Midwest, where two CSX main lines cross each other at a diamond.

The east-west line carries freight between Chicago and Cleveland, while the north-south line runs from Toledo down to Cincinnati, and dozens of trains pass through every day, from long container trains to tank cars and autoracks.

Both lines once belonged to the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, and the old Deshler tower still stands on the corner opposite the park. The village is home to only about 1,600 people, and it's named after John G. Deshler, the original owner of the town site.

Did You Know? Deshler was once known as "The Crossroads of the B&O", and its two main lines meet at a 71-degree angle.
