Majete Waterhole Cam 4 - Chikwawa, Malawi

Camera byPix African Cams↗

This live webcam overlooks a woodland waterhole in Majete Wildlife Reserve in southern Malawi. A narrow pool lies between sandy banks, with trees and undergrowth filling the background. Elephants sometimes approach close to the camera, while quieter periods reveal birds and smaller movements around the water’s edge.

Majete lies in Chikwawa District, southwest of Blantyre, where rolling hills meet grassy plains and mixed woodland. Its varied habitats support elephants, buffalo, antelope, and large predators. The waterhole offers a small window into this wider reserve, capturing animals as they drink, bathe, or move between feeding areas.

The reserve’s wildlife has recovered through a long-running program of protection and reintroductions. Species once lost locally have returned, restoring animal communities across the landscape. At the waterhole, that recovery becomes visible through everyday encounters, from an elephant cooling itself in the pool to animals gathering along the banks.

Did You Know? Lions were reintroduced to Majete in 2012 after an absence of around 30 years.
