Humberto Delgado Airport - Lisbon, Portugal
This camera sits at runway level at Humberto Delgado Airport in Lisbon, showing aircraft taxiing, taking off, and landing with live flight data displayed across the top of the screen identifying each aircraft by airline, flight number, route, aircraft type, and registration. The feed captures a constant procession of wide and narrow body jets from carriers across Europe, the Middle East, and beyond.
Humberto Delgado is Portugal's busiest airport and one of the fastest growing in Europe, handling over 32 million passengers a year. Its position inside the city boundary, just a few kilometres from central Lisbon, means aircraft pass low over the urban area on approach, and the tight surroundings make it one of the more operationally interesting airports on the continent for aviation enthusiasts.
The live flight data overlay makes this camera particularly useful for plane spotters, with every movement on the visible taxiways and runway identified in real time. Wide-body jets on long-haul routes to North America, Africa, and the Gulf appear regularly alongside the steady stream of short-haul European traffic.
Did You Know? Humberto Delgado Airport is named after a Portuguese general and presidential candidate who campaigned against the Salazar dictatorship in the 1950s and was later assassinated by the PIDE secret police in 1965. The airport was renamed in his honour in 2016, fifty years after his death.
