Did You Know? Humberto Delgado Airport is named after a Portuguese general and presidential candidate who campaigned against the Salazar dictatorship in the 1950s and was later assassinated by the PIDE secret police in 1965. The airport was renamed in his honour in 2016, fifty years after his death.
