Terminal 1 - Haneda Airport, Tokyo, Japan
Terminal 1 at Tokyo's Haneda Airport (羽田空港) is the busy domestic hub on the edge of Tokyo Bay, and this camera looks out across the apron, where Japan Airlines jets push back, taxi out and roll in from cities all over Japan.
On a busy day the flow barely stops, from the first departures in the early morning to the last arrivals late in the evening, while baggage tugs, fuel trucks and marshallers swarm around each plane.
Japanese ground staff are known for bowing and waving as each aircraft leaves the gate. At dusk the runway lights come on, and the planes keep rolling in against the city sky.
Did You Know? Haneda opened in 1931 as a small airfield on the edge of Tokyo Bay. It has since grown onto land reclaimed from the sea to become one of the world’s busiest airports.
