Ski Lift - Malbun, Liechtenstein
Chairlifts climb the snowy slopes above Malbun, a small mountain village high in the Alps of Liechtenstein, and this camera looks up at the lifts and runs from the valley station as skiers and walkers set off.
Malbun sits about 5,249 feet (1,600 m) above sea level and is the only ski resort in Liechtenstein. It belongs to the municipality of Triesenberg and lies less than about a mile (2 km) from the Austrian border.
Three chairlifts serve the slopes, and the top of the eastern lift looks out over the ridges of Switzerland and Austria. In summer the same slopes are used for hiking and mountain biking.
Did You Know? In 1968, five Swiss artillery shells went off course and landed in Malbun. Luckily, the only damage was to a few outdoor chairs.
