Hollywood Boulevard - Los Angeles, USA
Looking down Hollywood Boulevard from above, the camera shows the full sweep of the Walk of Fame on both sides of the street, with the TCL Chinese Theatre and its distinctive pagoda roof dominating the right of the frame. Tourist umbrellas line the pavements outside the theatre most afternoons, and queues regularly form along the kerb for star-spotting tours and photo opportunities.
Hollywood Boulevard runs for around 3.5 miles through Los Angeles and became a focal point for the film industry in the 1920s. The Walk of Fame contains over 2,700 brass and terrazzo stars set into the sidewalk, with new ones added every month in front of large public crowds.
The camera is operated by the Los Angeles Times and runs around the clock, with current weather and live news headlines overlaid on the feed. Late afternoon tends to be the busiest time of day, when foot traffic peaks and the light hits the Chinese Theatre's green tiled roof.
Did You Know? That pagoda-style theatre on the right of the frame opened in 1927 and reportedly began its famous handprint tradition by accident, when silent film star Norma Talmadge stepped into wet cement during construction. Nearly 200 celebrity prints and signatures are now pressed into its forecourt.
