Mahali Mzuri Lodge - Maasai Mara, Kenya
This live camera overlooks the open savannah of the Olare Motorogi Conservancy from Mahali Mzuri, Sir Richard Branson's luxury safari camp in Kenya's greater Maasai Mara ecosystem. The conservancy covers 35,000 acres of privately managed land bordering the Maasai Mara National Reserve, operating with strictly limited vehicle numbers to provide a less crowded wildlife experience than the main reserve.
The Maasai Mara ecosystem supports the world's largest overland wildlife migration, with 1.5 million wildebeest crossing between the Serengeti in Tanzania and the Mara annually between July and October. The conservancy visible in this feed also supports year-round resident populations of lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, cheetahs, and leopards across its open grassland and acacia woodland landscape.
Mahali Mzuri, which means "beautiful place" in Swahili, is operated by Virgin Limited Edition and sits in Narok County in south-west Kenya, 270 kilometres from Nairobi. The Olare Motorogi Conservancy model returns a significant portion of revenue directly to Maasai landowners, making it one of the more established community-based conservation models in East Africa.
Did You Know? The annual wildebeest migration through the Maasai Mara involves 1.5 million animals and is considered the largest overland wildlife migration on earth, with the Mara River crossings producing some of the most dramatic predator-prey interactions visible anywhere in Africa.
