From the observation deck at Terminal 2, this camera looks across Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (桃園國際機場), about 25 miles (40 km) west of Taipei, as jets from across Asia and the world taxi, park and take off.


The airport opened on February 26, 1979, as Chiang Kai-shek International Airport, and it took its current name in September 2006. It's the busiest and largest airport in Taiwan, with two parallel runways.


It's the main hub for China Airlines, EVA Air and Starlux Airlines, so the apron is full of their colorful tails, alongside airlines from across Asia and beyond. In 2024 the airport handled about 44.9 million passengers, more than any other airport in Taiwan.


Did You Know? The longer of Taoyuan's two runways stretches 12,467 feet (3,800 m), long enough for the biggest passenger jets in the world.
