Summit One Vanderbilt - New York City, USA
This camera is mounted at the top of One Vanderbilt, a 427-metre supertall skyscraper in Midtown Manhattan, looking north across the full expanse of Central Park with the Hudson River to the left and the East River to the right. The Rockefeller Center complex is visible in the foreground, and on clear days the view extends well beyond the city limits in every direction.
One Vanderbilt opened in 2020 directly adjacent to Grand Central Terminal and quickly became one of the tallest buildings in New York City. SUMMIT, the observation experience occupying the upper floors, includes glass-floored terraces and mirrored installations that sit at around 300 metres above street level.
The camera position gives one of the most complete aerial views of Manhattan available on any live feed, with the island's geography laid out clearly from the dense grid of Midtown to the green rectangle of Central Park and the residential towers of the Upper West and East Sides beyond.
Did You Know? The straight line of 42nd Street, which runs directly below One Vanderbilt, is one of only two dates in the year when the setting sun aligns perfectly with Manhattan's street grid, a phenomenon known as Manhattanhenge. On those evenings, the sun sits exactly between the canyon of buildings and is visible from one side of the island to the other.
