Chubu Centrair Intl. Airport - Tokoname, Aichi, Japan

Colorful jets park at the gates of Chubu Centrair International Airport (中部国際空港), built on an artificial island in Ise Bay off Tokoname, and this camera watches them taxi and take off about 22 miles (35 km) south of Nagoya.


The airport opened on February 17, 2005, on about 470 hectares (1,160 acres) of reclaimed land. Its single runway is 11,500 feet (3,500 m) long, and it serves Nagoya and the whole of central Japan.


In the fiscal year to March 2025, about 11 million passengers used it. Besides flights across Japan and Asia, it draws visitors who come just to see the aircraft and explore the terminal.


Did You Know? The airport's Flight of Dreams complex, opened in 2018, has the very first Boeing 787 Dreamliner prototype on display as its centerpiece.
