West Rim View - Kīlauea Volcano, HI, USA
This live camera provides a west rim view into Halemaʻumaʻu crater at Kīlauea Volcano, one of the most active volcanoes on Earth. Operated by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), the camera is positioned on the northwest rim of the summit caldera, offering a direct view of the crater floor.
Depending on volcanic activity, viewers may observe lava lakes, glowing vents, gas emissions, lava flows, and changes to the crater landscape. Camera pan, tilt, and zoom may be adjusted by scientists to focus on areas of interest during eruptive periods.
Did You Know? In 2018, Kilauea produced one of the largest eruptions in modern Hawaiian history. Lava destroyed over 700 homes and created nearly 900 acres of brand-new land as molten rock poured into the Pacific Ocean and cooled into fresh coastline.
