Small planes park, taxi and take off at Triangle North Executive Airport, about 6 miles (9 km) southwest of Louisburg, in the rolling countryside of Franklin County, North Carolina, and this camera watches the ramp and runway through the day.


The county-owned airport has a single asphalt runway 5,498 feet (1,676 m) long and sits 369 feet (112 m) above sea level. It used to be called Franklin County Regional Airport until the county renamed it in November 2008.


Its new name links it to the Research Triangle, the fast-growing region around Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill. Private pilots and business aircraft use the field, which has had more than 60 planes based here.


Did You Know? In 2008 the airport handled around 62,800 takeoffs and landings, an average of about 171 a day for a small country airfield.
