Austrian Panorama Live Views - Rolling Webcams, Austria
This rolling camera cycles through live panoramic viewpoints from across Austria, covering locations from Innsbruck and the Karwendel mountains in Tyrol through to Vienna, the Arlberg, and the Neusiedler See in the east. Each position comes with live weather data and altitude information displayed on screen, making it as much a weather feed as a scenic one.
The range of landscapes covered is considerable, shifting between high Alpine terrain, forested valleys, lakeside towns, and urban cityscapes as the feed rotates. Austria spans several distinct geographic zones, from the Eastern Alps that cover around two thirds of the country to the flat Pannonian lowlands near the Hungarian border.
At 1,480 metres, the Pertisau position in the Karwendel range, one of the locations shown in the current frame, sits above the Achensee valley with a full wall of limestone peaks visible in every direction. The Karwendel is the largest nature reserve in Austria and one of the most dramatic sections of the Northern Limestone Alps.
Did You Know? The Karwendel range visible in this feed is almost entirely made of marine limestone formed on the bed of the Tethys Ocean, an ancient sea that existed long before the Atlantic. The fossils of tropical sea creatures have been found in the rock at altitudes well above 2,000 metres.
