Cowes Harbour and the Solent - Isle of Wight, UK
This live 4K camera streams from the New Holmwood Hotel in Cowes, looking out across the Solent, the stretch of water separating the Isle of Wight from the Hampshire coast. The feed captures a constant procession of yachts, ferries, cargo ships, and cruise liners passing through one of the busiest and most historically significant stretches of water in the UK.
Cowes is the sailing capital of the United Kingdom and home to the Royal Yacht Squadron, one of the most prestigious yacht clubs in the world. Cowes Week, held every August, is the oldest and largest sailing regatta in the world, drawing around 1,000 boats and 8,000 competitors to these waters each year and filling the Solent with racing yachts for a full week.
Did You Know? The Royal Yacht Squadron at Cowes was founded in 1815 and is so exclusive that it has only around 550 members worldwide. Its cannon, fired to start races, are actual naval guns gifted by King George IV, making it one of the few yacht clubs in the world licensed to fly the White Ensign, a privilege normally reserved for Royal Navy vessels.
