Osaka Itami Airport Aerial View - Osaka, Japan

Camera byKansai HD↗

From high above the city, this camera looks across Osaka International Airport, better known as Itami Airport (伊丹空港), where jets glide in over packed neighborhoods and touch down on runways surrounded on every side by homes and streets.

The airport opened in January 1939, and most of it lies in the city of Itami in Hyogo Prefecture, with parts in Toyonaka and Ikeda in Osaka Prefecture. Its main runway is 9,843 feet (3,000 m) long.

When Kansai International Airport opened in 1994, international flights moved there, and Itami became a domestic airport. It's still busy, handling about 15 million passengers in 2024, but noise rules mean no flights late at night.

Did You Know? The terminal sits across three different cities, and the Itami side is reached through a tunnel that runs underneath the runway and apron.
