Woodland Feeder - Makov, South Bohemia, Czech Republic

A woodland feeding station brings squirrels and birds into view at Makov, with nuts, fruit and seeds arranged among the trees. The camera looks across the feeding area toward a hay shelter, where deer can also appear in the background. Visitors come and go throughout the day.

The feeder is located at a wildlife rescue station near Čížová in South Bohemia. Established in 1993, the station cares for injured, sick and orphaned wild animals. Its woodland setting provides a backdrop for this close-up view of the animals around the feeding station.

The scene changes with the seasons as leaves emerge, fall colors spread through the trees and winter weather transforms the forest floor. Squirrels climb among the branches and feeders, while birds visit for seeds. Different animals may appear at any moment, and quieter periods reveal the peaceful woodland surroundings.

Did You Know? Red squirrels can have dark brown or almost black fur, despite their name. Their distinctive ear tufts become more prominent in winter.
