Copacabana Beach - Posto 3, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
This live camera looks along Copacabana Beach from Posto 3, positioned directly in front of the Copacabana Palace hotel, one of the most iconic luxury hotels in South America. This central stretch of the beach is among the busiest and most vibrant sections of the full 4.5 kilometre arc, with beach volleyball, vendors, swimmers, and the constant flow of the Avenida Atlântica promenade filling the frame throughout the day.
The Copacabana Palace opened in 1923 and has hosted everyone from Princess Diana to the Rolling Stones. Its position on the beachfront at Posto 3 places this camera at the beating heart of Copacabana, where the energy is at its highest from mid morning through to late evening.
Did You Know? Copacabana Beach held one of the largest concerts in history in 2006 when the Rolling Stones performed a free show that drew an estimated 1.5 million people onto the sand, one of the biggest single gatherings for a music event ever recorded.
