Seatown Beach - Seatown, Dorset, UK

Waves roll onto Seatown’s shingle beach beneath steep coastal slopes, with the view looking east toward the Doghouse Hills and distant Portland. The shoreline curves away from the foreground, where beach access meets the pebbles, placing the camera close to the changing edge of the sea.

Between Lyme Regis and West Bay, Seatown sits where the River Winniford reaches Dorset’s Jurassic Coast. The small coastal settlement is surrounded by countryside, with cliffs and fields rising on either side of its valley. The South West Coast Path connects the beach with neighboring headlands.

Summer brings swimmers, anglers and people walking along the shore, while rougher weather sends foaming waves farther up the shingle. West of the camera, Golden Cap rises above the coastline, giving this small stretch of beach a setting between some of Dorset’s most distinctive coastal hills.

Did You Know? Nearby Golden Cap reaches 627 feet (191 m), making it the highest point on England’s south coast.
